Hi there,

Here's another question I hope you can answer!

Our ABC organisation in South Africa is quite reluctant to let us include digital editions in our circulation figures saying they only count if they are requested by the company or reader and paid for.

I have no problem with the 'request' criteria, but I was under the, perhaps mistaken, impression that B2B publishers do not even rely on paid circulations for their print editions!

How do I counter their argument? What percentage of your circulation is paid for if you're a B2B publication?

If a print edition isn't paid for, and with readers so used to free digital and print content, why would they all of a sudden start paying for a digital edition?

I have to give a presentation to the ABC SA board next week to persuade them against their current thinking. With only one other publisher in SA even thinking about digital editions, I'm at a bit of a loss.

Pls help!
Confused

On a somewhat related note, have you seen this website:

It may be of interest. I'll invite the editor of this publication to weigh in on your question.

Hi Natalia

You might be interested to learn that we've been publishing online magazines in South Africa for the last year with great success. Our magazines are hosted by NXTbook and are circulated based on a FREE subscription. Check out our issues in the LIBRARY on our website at www.avspecialist.tv
I'd be interested to learn the outcome of your presentation to the ABC. Since the ABC in South Africa cancelled their membership of the IFABC we decided to resign our membership of the ABC and have joined BPA Worldwide
