On the bottom of the editorial masthead for _ US Industry Today_ it states that "US Industry Today is a member of, and adheres to the ethical and editorial guidelines of the American Society of Business Press Editors (ASBPE)."
After some contributed pieces from industry consultants, the majority of the book is filled with non-byline "profiles." Pages 30-240! These are obviously paid advertisements from the subject's suppliers which have been strong-armed into supporting their customer by buying an ad. In addition to the fact that the profiles aren't labeled as advertorials, the ASBPE Code of Ethics clearly states, "No Quid Pro Quo. There should be no trading of advertising for editorial or editorial for advertising." It seems to me that ASBPE should demand that their logo and "endorsement" be removed and revoke the membership of this publication, and any others that follow this business model. |
